5 Tips for Staying Sane During the Holidays

In celebration of the season, today I'm bringing back an oldie but goody. It's all about staying sane during the holidays.

The Holidays can be a stressful time for some people. With all the shopping chaos, hustle and bustle, it's enough to overwhelm even the calmest person. I've got a few tips that can hopefully help you keep your cool so you don't hurt nobody!

5 Tips for Staying Sane During the Holidays

1.  Don't rush!  I hate being rushed.  It can throw off my whole day.  Be sure that whether you're Christmas shopping or visiting family, allow yourself enough time to get from point A to point B.

2.  Be flexible.  I know we do have our schedules, but don't be so rigid that you can't fit in an unexpected friend stopping by or a last minute Holiday party invite.

3.  Get exercise and eat as healthy as possible.  When you're at home, eat more fruits and veggies since you know you'll be pigging out at that company Christmas party.  Carve out time to get in a walk outdoors or hit the treadmill.  Better yet, take another lap around the mall before you leave.

4.  Don't take on too much.  You're running around visiting the nursing home, volunteering at the food shelf, all while sewing the kids Christmas play costumes. You know you don't have time to bake 10 dozen cookies for the cookie exchange.  Just say no! I'm not saying don't do those things, that what's the season is about. But I am saying know your limits.

5.  Last but definitely not least, please take time for you. With all that you are doing, you truly deserve it. Whether it's treating yourself to an Eggnog Latte at your local coffee shop or a DIY foot soak.  Make sure you do something for yourself even if it's just taking a much needed nap.

Just remember, you are Too Blessed to be Stressed!

How are the holidays going for you?

  15. Amen to number 1. I think the cooler temperatures naturally cause me to slow down my tempo anyway because I'm just a Summer lover. I will be taking it especially easy now that I'm recovering from this shoulder injury and want to get back to 100%.
